The staff were fantastic, the hotel was good, nice view. The reception, Natalia, was extremely helpful in arranging taxis, excursions and next hotels. It made our stay much more comfortable.
The food was not very good at the hotel, especially the dinners. Also, for some reason, the hotel added additional charges of 12USD, claiming this was taxes. However the final bill did not show this amount as a tax, but rather as the room rate. Thus, not sure if the tax amount was a legitimate charge.
The hotel is beautiful and feels like an estancia or ranch. It is on Lake Argentina and has vistas of the snow-capped mountains across the lake. The town is ringed by mountains. The people and service at the hotel is extremely attentive and helpful. Breakfast and box lunches were delicious.
As others have suggested, the ride to the hotel goes through an unsightly dump, but that is a minor price to pay.
Excellent food (surprising for a hotel) and good service.
Upon arriving at the hotel we were offered a glass of wine or champagne and escorted to the living room overlooking the lake as the staff took care of our bags. So welcoming and hospitable. The staff is exceptional. The location is quiet and beautiful. The architecture is appealing.
Nothing. We will go the Las Dunas again when we return to El Calafate.
Location is a great view. Pleople are very nice and try do the best to you fell very confortable. The hotel itself is cosy and very well decorated.
It is a little away from the center of the city, but it is not a problem once the taxi price is cheap.
Las Dunas was amazing. Who cares if it was 5mins drive from town it simply doesnt mater. A cheap taxi or a free transfer and you're there. Not that you'd leave anyway with the best value for money and tastiest food in town at the hotels restaurant. The hotel itself is beautifully located, with an amazing view. The service is outstanding with a focus on the small things that make a guests stay a good one.
Very friendly, family and confortable hotel.
The staff were very helpful at the hotel & very nice. The view from the room and the lobby/sitting area is fantastic as it looks across the lake to the mountains - this was the good part about the location. They have a resident fox that they feed by the seating area outside and they also have a telescope in the sitting area. Breakfast was the usual continental breakfast which was good. Also the hotel is not walking distance from town and the road to the hotel is under construction so not paved but they do have a shuttle and taxis are also US$5 each way so cheap...
The rooms were 'ok'. They were a bit small and didn't smell good (strong flower odor which seemed to be trying to disguise a sewage smell) but they were clean. Also I could hear the people in the room next door drying their hair in the morning so the walls are very thin. From their floor map it appeared they had 3 rooms that I guess were suites or at least double the size. I did not see them but would recommend you book one if you are spending more than a couple of nights here and are planning to spend time at the hotel.
Beautiful view, and great hotel restaurant.
A little far from town (about 1.5 miles)
The staff at Las Dunas made our stay great. Always accommodating and friendly. The twin rooms were big enough for two adults and were very clean. The restaurant had good variety of food and the views of Lago Argentino were fantastic. Would definitely stay again.
As other reviewers have stated, the hotel is 2.3 km out of town and the gravel road is currently being paved. This is not a reflection of the hotel because the charm is that it's not directly in town, but just be aware of this. A can ride costs around AR$ 20-25, so not really a problem.
The view is great, hotel staff helpful and courteous
The hotel is within a read construction zone and the access from the highway is through a disgusting landfill with exposed garbage; construction to continue over 2 years
This hotel was much better than I expected. I think it must have been redone in the past few years. The staff were very friendly and it had a very home-like feeling. We had a triple room, which was perfect for three people. The food in the hotel restaurant was pretty good.
There was not much within walking distance, but we had a car so this didn't bother us much.
gracious staff made our stay relaxing respite during an adventure vacation
Views of the lake are fantastic.
There are 12 rooms, and it looks like ten of them have the view of the lake. We had one with view of the parking lot which really detracted from enjoying the location. Be sure to verify your room is one of those with the view!
Great Customer service; great breakfast;
I booked the hotel and had in mind the website rate. Later I was informed that the airport-hotel transfer was included in my rate, but at checkout the hotel charged me a different and superior rate because of the transfer; No evening shuttles/transfers;
