Amazing interior design - wonderful high ceilings, floor to ceiling doors opening out to a balcony, grand ball room (where breakfast is served). Lovely hotel.
Location was a bit tricky to find - and the communal areas leading up to hotel (entrance and staircase) belonged to looked to be in quite poor condition. This might have been intended to be part of the "charm", but our group of friends found it a bit poor.
An exceptionally agreeable hotel. We were warmly greeted by the manager at reception on arrival and proudly taken on a guided tour of the hotel's facilities and our bedroom. Throughout the stay the desk staff were very helpful and even managed to get us tickets for the opera - normally impossible. The bedrooms and public space are clean and elegantly furnished in traditional style and the breakfast room, originally part of a bishop's palace, is amazing.
There's little to fault in this hotel. The lighting in the bedroom and sitting room wasn't conducive to reading and the breakfast didn't quite do justice to the palatial breakfast room.
We were impressed by the energy and commitment of the reception staff. On arrival, we were provided with maps and restaurant recommendations; the two we tried were good value. On our departure date, there was a rail strike; the young man on the desk took pains to clarify the situation of our trains. Our room was large and airy, with a seating area.
The bedroom would benefit from the addition of a luggage rest. The "fruit juice" offered at breakfast appeared to be a powder reconstituted with water and is neither worthy of the impressive room in which it is served nor acceptable in a country full of orange groves.
The Piano room where we had breakfast was beautiful. The bathrooms were really lovely, very clean, well maintained and nicely designed. The rooms were well proportioned although a little dark, but didn't feel too bad as the ceilings were very high and we didn't spend much time in it except to sleep and there was a little shared balcony. It was well located to the shops and restaurants of the old town and not too far from the ferry port. Also the reception staff were extremely helpful.
The outside of the building and entrance to the 2nd floor doesn't look very nice and at bit daunting when you use the stairwell for the first time and really doesn't do the hotel justice. Although I am sure the area is quite safe.
The hotel is not easy to find so it's best to get a taxi from the airport/station. The staff were so helpful and friendly finding us the best Pizza restaurants, museums etc.
We loved the palatial interior of the hotel, literally 'hidden' from the street. The exterior looks quite neglected, and it is almost impossible to recognise this as a hotel from the street, but in our minds this made the hotel all the more special..this hotel is located in the historic centre of Naples and you feel as if you are part of the Naples experience! The room was large and very well appointed. Lovely crisp sheets on beds, fluffy towels in new bathroom, large TV with skybox. We booked a triple room for 2 adults, 2 children, and there was plenty of room for the 2 stretcher beds. Breakfast in gorgeous ballroom. Fabrizio on the reception desk was very professional and helpful. Great value.
We stayed here twice during our trip to Naples in July. The hotel is a little oasis! Bedrooms and bathrooms are spotless, beds very comfortable and rooms very nicely decorated. The breakfast room is beautiful! Staff are friendly and helpful and gave great recommendations for restaurants. Staying at this hotel really made our stay in Naples.
The hotel is an amazing. Very regal and an image of past opulence.
Bed was hard, pillow was like a Jiffy Bag. However, the hotel itself was amazing. Naples however, is am awful
Professional friendly staff & location
Room quality very good for a three star hotel. Super clean, very quiet, beautiful breakfast room. Staff was very helpful and friendly and all spoke fluent english and spanish. Some people may complain about the look of the neighborhood. Yes, there is garbage, graffiti, shady streets and badly dressed locals, but, well, this is Naples, not Vienna. We tried to be nonchalant and no one in the street ever bothered us. The hotel is in a 2nd floor, but there is an elevator. If you are driving a car, this hotel, and the parking, is really near an easy entry and exit from the highway.
Nearby parking was expensive: 22€ a day. Take pictures of your car when you leave it. Ours had a new dent when we picked it up.
A wonderful Italian experience. Beautiful hotel surrounded by grotty Naples. Stylish and comfortable.
The breakfast was excellent in quality but rather badly organised.
Very fine location, very friendly staff
We feel very well at Decumani. Is it because of its excellent localization? Because it’s confortable? Beautiful saloon? I think the X-factor is the sympathy of all employees. They have good information about Naples, and seem really to like their work. I’ll be back soon.
The feeling one was staying in a part of Naples history. Do not be put off by the entrance ( advised about when booking) as this is part of faded elegance. One felt spoilt with the choice of wonderful places to visit within a 15 minute walk. We were recommend some excellent places to eat which were within walking distance including La Cantina del Sole.
At first we felt a little intimidated by the old Naples lanes around, but were assured that as this is a student area it is relative safe part of Naples and as in any city one just needs to be sensible
We enjoyed the charm of the old building and the character of the fixtures. The area was handy for the old part of town.
The surrounding area was a little scary as there were young people in groups everywhere drinking and smoking dope. The graffiti was off putting as was all the rubbish in the streets. Stick to the main tourist areas in the evenings when going out for dinner. When we asked for extra drinks, they didnt come, but the staff was friendly and helpful with advise otherwise.
