The Hotel is across a pedestrian mall from the best bbq rest in Montevideo. It is a huge enclosed area with many establishments supplying the best meats and atmosphere you will find in Montivedeo. The hotel is very modern design with an art deco looking facade. The rooms are good size, the rooftop pool area is beautiful and the real strength of this hotel is the service. Everyone is happy to help and the included breakfast was as good as I have seen. This hotel is the best kept secret in Montevideo, but I dont expect that to last. One of the bbq places, maybe 35meters from the hotel entrance, stays open till the wee hours and you can charge meals back to the hotel. Fast cab service. The friendly and professional staff, more than anything, made the stay very enjoyable.
Although the dock area is slated for redevelopment, and much has been done, some parts still look a little seedy and you may not want to be walking around there at night, although I did for a week with no problems. There are galleries and interesting shops to visit in the daylight hours, but any night trips to casino etc I had the staff call a cab to the door. No exercise bike or walking machine was a negative.
The kind and helpful staff for looking after me so well when I was unwell.
The hotel and staff were wonderful, especially the exceptionally helpful services of Roberta at the front desk/reception. Her extensive knowledge of the city truly made it a superb 5 days in a new, modern, quiet hotel in the old city port area of Montevideo.
Hotel is modern, clean and well serviced.
we loved the design, breakfast and staff were really friendly
Good wifi, friendly front of house and breakfast staff.
Location dead at night
This is a wonderful hotel. From the moment my wife and I arrived we were treated superbly. Friendly helpful people at reception (we were also offered a welcoming drink), lovely personalized breakfasts served by Daniel, a tastefully designed and decorated room, quiet and spotlessly clean. What more can one ask? Well, we didn't ask, but when the people at reception heard about the horror story that had been our trip up to the point that we arrived at the Don hotel (problems caused in part by the end of Pluna, but mostly by the incompetence of tam airlines, that had pretty much ruined our wedding anniversary) they offered us a complementary lunch! We didn't accept it, mostly because of the excellent breakfast we had recently eaten. But it is just one more piece of evidence of the excellent service we received at this hotel.
The only negative thing I can think of is that if you're looking for a good view from your room...the room we had (12) wouldn't be suitable, as it just looked out at other rooms. However, we weren't interested in a view.
pleasant and helpful staff, good facilities, quiet location.
pricing refreshments cup of tea US$5 is a bit rich for a cup of hot water and a standard teabag. At night the neighbourhood is deserted, few options for dining.
A beautifully appointed hotel with smart, helpful, pleasant staff. Great breakfast, amazing rooftop desk with pool and view of part of the city. We had nice conversations with other guests over breakfast. Secure parking was included free of charge - priceless for a traveler with a rental car.
The area was quite a shock. We drove in off the Rambla after dark and the area had a sort of post apocalyptic feel - dark streets, seemingly abandoned buildings with just a few people around, including a shirtless guy tending an open fire. We found our street and looked at the numbers and there was our hotel. I thought there must be a mistake. In the morning it felt better. The hotel is in a sort of transition zone. The staff did say we should not walk towards the port at night. 2-3 blocks away from the hotel and port were big banks and other businesses. In the hotel area the people in the small shops were wonderful.
The hotel was small, convenient and very attractive. The staff were wonderful.
Everything we liked about this hotel except location.
Its very chic... In downtown... Everything is near... Personalized :-d really nice
Everything is great!!! Highy recommended
The staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel itself was well designed and decorated. We loved the rooftop pool and terrace!
The only suggestion I would make is that guests can choose the breakfast from a buffet and toast their own bread, then everything is fresh and food is not wasted.
Excellent lttle Hotel. Brilliant location and extreamly helpful staf. All in all I would highly recomend this Hotel.
The hotel is nicely designed and the staff is friendly and helpful. We loved the breakfasts, perfectly matching the design and the quick and very friendly service. .
Unfortunately the streets around the hotel are said to be slightly dangerous and the traveller is told not to walk around in the evenings and nights and that is a layback. As the distance to Pl Independencia and the rest of the town its necessary to take a cab after a dinner there. The resto El Palenque which is just around the corner from the hotel was a bad surprise. Almost cold food and very busy service is not to be expected by a resto which presents itself as representing gastronomy
